We know the Bible is open to different interpretations for people of faith. While not exhaustive of all our beliefs, these statements provide a framework from which the owners, operators and writers at Readthebibleinayear.com will approach our site development and editorial content.

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. His words are infallible, without error and authoritative for our daily living (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).

We believe in one God, who exists eternally in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ (John 10:33) and that…

He was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35)

He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4: 15, 7:26)

He preformed miracles (John 2:11)

His death atoned for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9)

He rose from the dead (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4)

He ascended to the right hand of God after his resurrection (Mark 16:19)

He will return one day with power and in glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is necessary for salvation because all mankind has sinned. Furthermore, man can only be justified through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that he can be saved only by God’s grace and through faith alone (John 3:16–19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5).

We believe that the saved and the lost will one day be resurrected; the saved will secure the resurrection of life with God, and the unsaved the resurrection of condemnation apart from God (John 5:28–29).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers and the church through the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12–13, Galatians 3:26–28).

We believe the Holy Spirit is at work today, that He indwells the believer and enables him or her to live a godly life (Romans 8:13–14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
